WHAT'S UP TODAY
Today is July 7, 2011
It is hot. Hot and dry dry dry. This long dry weather is the pits. The yard is however incredibly beautiful. We had to have the trees treated for some kind of beatles and they added fertilizer also. The trees are blooming like crazy. I have got to get some pictures of them posted on the garden page. The flowerbeds are not so great. A few new flowers I tried are actually working out well. The yard is actually more beautiful than at any other time. Go figure with the hot dry weather.
A wonderful animal photographer Mel Hammonds of Fetching Images (864-517-5929) came over Sunday and took pictures of long timer PupSquad Cypress dogs. These pictures will go on the website and hopefully the dogs will get homes. She is great. It was a joy to watch her work with the dogs. She gets great shots and the dogs work very well with her. My Woofie and Snickers were two of the dogs shot. Also the new one we have Birdie got her pic taken too. Hopefully this will help them find a great forever home.
Got to go feed those dogs. Sounds like they are ready to kill each other. Oh I got that little Micky back for good. Seems he was a real pain to live with. Now I just love that little bad boy to pieces so I am glad he is back. LOL

Life is sometimes a whirlwind and lately that is an accurate description of mine. Office is in place. Or at least as in place as it is ever going to be. Lots of things are happening all at once. My best friend moved to Tuson, AZ and I'm totally bummed about that. I'm right in the middle of a kitchen remodel and about to start a bathroom remodel. This is great because it is what pays the bills. I'm also approaching the end of the GHBA Fall Charity Project .. Project Independence. This project is designing and implementing a remodel of five apartments for Santa Maria's homeless veteran women. GHBA Remodelers have completed the remodel of the bathrooms. Now we designers will step in and decorate the apartments. Friends and clients have stepped forward and donated tons of things for the apartment I'm working on. Generous people. Also have a husband and friend that are helping on the work day.
I've still got the three fosters. Ivy the black lab/sharpie mix (see her page), Petey a little wire haired terrier and Mickey a little baby Chihuahua. Petey and Mickey are going up for adoption within 2 weeks. Ivy starts puppy classes on Oct 2nd.

And I'm helping out with a church party. OK let's vote. Yeah I'm totally crazy to take on so much at once. I do still get a moment to sit in the garden. Someone has to take the dogs out Right?
The mornings are glorious and I'm looking forward to October and having a bit more time to maybe just putter around the gardens.
YEAH IT'S FALL!

My dear husband has given me a wonderful gift. He has built out the front guest room as an office for my business. This is a wonderful wonderful gift. I am moved in and still in the putting everything in it's place. I love it. We painted the walls a wonderful golden cream color and the cabinetry is a dark mahogany. Space a wonderful gift. He even built me bookcases for all my books. I love being in my new office. I even dug out my old lava lamp and found a place for it. Nice to look at when I'm trying to solve a design problem. I'll get some pictures loaded when I get all organized. I'm a very lucky woman to have such a wonderful husband.

Today I set-up a page for Hoku now known as Ivy. It is under My Personal Passion as Ivy. Please follow her progress there. This is an amazing dog. I will keep posting update and pictures.
Today my dear darling husband is layout out the kitchen I'm working on. Yes he is very well qualified to do this work. Then I go in and tweak it to make it work for my clients.
Progress is being made on my new office space. The color is wonderful and happy. It is a Sherwin Williams paint call Compatible Cream with wonderful golden lights. This should energize me every morning when I go to work. I'm so ready for it to be done and I know I have to wait. I'm getting to practice what my clients have to do while I'm working on their homes. I'm sure I'll be a better understanding person for it.

Today is the day we get ready for Hoku. She is scheduled to get here tomorrow. She has been staying with the shelter person, who is bring her down to Houston, since yesterday. This is probably the best thing to happen to her in a year. These are really bad pictures but they are the only ones I have right now. They just get fuzzier if I make them larger.

You can see that she is a black lab mix. Those jail bars are a thing of her past now. As always for the safety of everyone we take it slowly on the introductions. Hoku will be in the laundry room when she isn't being supervised. Since she is a young girl hopefully that will be a very short term thing. I am so looking forward to watching her romp and play with all my pups out in the freedom of our big backyard.
Right now I have to get busy on the kitchen design for my clients. Also need to work on the design for the GHBA Project.

I'm still busy busy busy. Now that is OK, I'm not complaining, I just haven't had the time to write on my page. I'm working on a kitchen project right now. A tear-out and redesign/build. Yeah I love those kitchens. This project will take sometime to plan. It will be beautiful when we are done. My clients are great folks.
I picked up a couple of ringworm puppies at the SPCA week before last. Cute little girls one black one brown. I named the black one Jazzy and the brown one Otter. I fell in love with those two right away. Last Tuesday late, a week ago today, Otter curled up in the corner of the crate and wouldn't eat. Not normal, so I took them both down to the SPCA. We went in and went back to admissions to see the tech. That is when the whole world turned black. Otter tested positive for parvo. Parvo the killer of puppies and other dogs that aren't protected. Two beautiful little girls that didn't come back home with me. I held them in their final moments and talked to them. I came home and bleached everything they touched. I can't write more about this it hurts too bad.
A plea came through for a Lab mix girl up in Denton in my email. A plea for her life to be spared. She is only one and a half years old. Been locked in a crate for most of her life. Her family decided to move to Hawai and put her in quarintine and left her there for seven months (in a crate) and didn't even bother to visit. When they changed their mind about moving and brought her home she wasn't the same puppy that they had dumped in that crate seven months before. So they took her to a kill shelter. Poor little girl is terrified of people. Imagine that. The shelter sent out a plea for her life. We are taking her in and will start the long road back to recovery. She is arriving in Houston this Friday. We can use all your prayers and good thoughts. I'll set-up a page for her and keep it updated.
My crew is doing great. Buffy is jumping around on my leg asking for dinner in her adorable little way. All I have to do is stand-up and they will all be up and running and barking going for the kitchen. What a wonderful pack of dogs I have.

I've been so busy with my professional life that I feel like I am either getting dressed to go out, I'm driving or I'm in a meeting. Not complaining here. No way after such a hard year for business this is great. Just got to get my running shoes back in the groove. My highlight for this week was being picked to work on the GHBA's fall project. WOW am I excited about that. Still trying to get that new office built here at home. I sure do need the space.
Back home, I took my three darling little foster puppies back to the SPCA yesterday and checked them in. I'll get a page made for them soon. Two darling little Lab (maybe Boxer) mixes. Cute and sweet. And one little West Highland White Terrier that was a little doll. The little West Highland White Terrier (named him Skipper) was adopted before I got back home. The little Lab boy (named him Robbie) was adopted last night. Yeah he is a doll also. Got a message this a.m. that the little Lab girl (named her Sally and yes she is a doll) went to the mobile adoption at the Galleria today. She was adopted there. I'm always so sad when I take the pups back for adoption even though I can't keep them all. This is great tomorrow they will be in their forever wonderful homes. So on Monday I will pick-up two little black pups. I have no idea what their breed is but they need help. Also picking up a very sad little dog that needs some help and lots of love. So the cycle begans again.
While you are here checkout Dixie on the Go. She is just so awesome.
